The Long Hop
25-27 rue Frederic Sauton
75005 Paris
Description
Large (Mayday Inns of The Cricketer and The Bowler fame) English pub serving Adnams real ales, Guinness and Kronenbourg. Also has a very good selection of wines, malt whiskeys and bottled lagers. Excellent food is served at lunchtimes and in the evenings. The promotional blurb is: "Think young, think fun, think The Long Hop, Mayday Inns No. 1 Party Pub. Great music from top DJ’s and a constant range of promotions and party nights" which shows the target market. The pub is better located than either of its sisters, being on a lively corner a stones throw from that tourist mecca, Notre Dame. A large terrace set back from the street is another advantage. The two gorillas on the doors are mainly there for the pose value, but enforce a couples-only policy on busy Thursday-Saturday nights. The pub layout is more interesting than either of its siblings, being in an L-shape, and the decor has a more professional feel to it, the other two bars relying heavily on church salvage. Satellite TV (Sky) for live sport and music on an enourmous screen with a mezzanine viewing area with megawatt sound system. English papers. |
